Description
(PRV) Both volumes contain the bookplate of Montagu George Knight and Chawton Library shelfmarks L.5.3 and L.5.4 respectively (see Chawton Catalogue 1901). The front end-paper is inscribed: 'Edw[ard] Austen, 1806', referring to Edward Austen II [1794-1879], known as Edward Knight II from 1812, when the family changed their name to Knight. Edward Knight II was the oldest son of Edward Austen Knight, Jane Austen's brother, and as such was the author's nephew.|(BIN) Bound in tan calf with gilt decoration on the spine||(CON) T.p. vignettes engraved by J.
