Description
(GEN) Accession no. 349: contemporary reader has annotated with a verse 'To Mr. Hayley on his Essay ...' on the verso of the half-title in Volume I. The author is presumably Dorothy Gell of Hopton, as the verse was written before the binding was put on the book and the outer edge of the half-title has been left untrimmed to preserve it. An ink signature, 'Hopton, Dec. 15, 1785,' appears on the title page of the third volume.||(CON) Vol I: [-]2, a8, B-R8, S3, Contents.
