(GEN) Covers are detached||(REF) COPAC: 1 copy (BL)||(ABS) Illustrated music theory book for young girls, by the royal governess Charlotte Finch (1725-1813), best known for her pioneering use of dissected maps to teach geography. There do not appear to have been any lifetime editions of her work||(PUB) The publisher Newman has been a partner of William Lane in the Minerva Press, and succeeded him at the same premises, dropping the name from his books in the early 1820s. There were several editions of the Gamut, all undated, precedence not established. Dean & Munday were the printers of all the Newman editions, and they continued to issue the book under their own imprint into the 1850s. (Quaritch, English books April 2010)
