Description
(ACC) Library catalogue (by case) contains autograph note written January 14 1853 recording loans from the collection||(BIN) Bound in tan calf with a grid of diamond shapes impressed in the binding on the front and back boards; boards are edged in gilt embossing and gilt lettering in the centre of the front boards of both volumes; the spines are embossed in gilt along their length||(PRV) The date of 1818 indicates the catalogues were compiled from that date for Edward Knight (Edward Austen) as a record of the contents of his library at Godmersham Park, Kent. The Library catalogue is arranged by the cases that held the books and bears the pressmark L.4.4; the alphabetical catalogue has the pressmark L.4.3. These pressmarks are written on adhesive labels and are later editions to the books that will have been added at Chawton House.||(TIT) The second volume is titled as the Alphabetical Catalogue Godmersham Park 1818||(VER) Scanned text on disc held in Store 1
